Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Kieran Trippier from Tottenham in a deal worth around £20million.
The England international spent four years with Spurs after joining from Burnley in the summer of 2015, having made over 100 appearances for North London club during his four years stint.
Trippier last match for Tottenham was against Liverpool in last season champions league, a match which they lost. He was impressive for England in the world cup last summer in Russia, helping them reach the last four and scoring a memorable goal against Croatia early in the game.
The 28-year-old had admitted towards the end of last season that his future at Spurs was in doubt having endured a dipped form in last season campaign. He is now ready for a new challenge in Spain.
Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino is looking to shape up his side ahead of the coming season, allowing some players leave and some fresh faces coming in. Some players could also be leaving during this transfer window having seen likes of Rose, Vincent Jassen and Georges-kevin Nkoudou left out of the squad that travel to Singapore for their pre season tour
The English defender will now replace Juanfran who was released by the Spanish giants in a three-year contract signed with Diego Simeone’s side. Trippier becomes the sixth signing of Atletico Madrid in this summer transfer window.
